Let it Ice, Let it Ice, Let it Ice

Well I'd love to say that we had our first snow, but so far we haven't. Not yet. We've had our first ice though. 1" of ice on the ground and my husband still isn't home from work. Let me rephrase, he still hasn't left work. God love him, he won't leave until our receptionist's ride shows up. He wants to make sure everyone else has left before he leaves. Chilavry isn't dead.

Guess what! It's the last day of NaBloPoMo. I made it, I really made it. I can't guarantee that I will continue to post every day, but I did it for one month. Rock on!

My Baby Girl

It was a complete accident that the pictures I posted yesterday only had the boys in them. Here is a picture of my baby girl (who completely has my personality). She was showing off the pjs that she bought with her own birthday gift card. They are absolutely so adorable on her.

The Anonymous Truth: Your Day Could Be Worse

Please read this sad (funny-if-it-didn't-happen-to-you) story.
The Anonymous Truth: Your Day Could Be Worse

Well, I Went to the Doctor

I did it. I called the doctor today. Here are the results...

I'm on an inhaler now for the next two weeks and he's calling out a broad spectrum anti-biotic, just because he can't rule out viral infection for my breathing problems. The big news, I'm going back on anxiety medication.

He feels that my breathing troubles coupled with my headaches coupled with my nausea equals anxiety - TENSION!! So, I'll be back on Zoloft for awhile. The last time I was on it was over 2 years ago for postpartum depression.

I'm not upset that I'll be on it again, but I am having trouble admitting that I may need the help. I think that everyone has a problem with that though. I don't anyone is necessarily embarrassed to be on medication. I think the embarrassment lays it not being able to handle everything alone.

Wish me luck, hopefully this starts making me feel better.

Look! I'm already taking care of babies.
Aiden is 3. Can you believe it?

I Can't Sleep

Jason says I should call the doctor. Lately (meaning the last few weeks), I've been suffering from migraine headaches, stomach pangs (heartburn and nausea), shortness of breath, and tonight I've woken up feeling as if someone has put my back muscles in a vise.

I fear calling the doctor though. Do you realize that all their going to say is that it's all in my head? That's what Jason always says. If I had to give my best medical guess, in my all knowing office manager wisdom, I would say that all of my symptoms are those of stress. Do I know what's causing my stress? No. Do I know how to help resolve these problems? No. So, this should be fun.

Maybe a magical cure will be development for me and me alone and I will no longer:

a) suffer from stress
b) be allergic to the cold (breaking out in hives sucks)
c) be allergic to all of God's creatures, excluding fish
d) have horrible eyesight bad enough that contacts aren't an option

There are other things wrong with me, but those are the major points. Overall, I can handle being crazy pretty well.

Was a Good Day then It Turned Bad

I got to spend the day with mom, which was cool. I like hanging out with my mom and today I got to use her washer and dryer since mine is still busted. I got to play piano (which I only get to do at her house) and we played electronic Battleship. We may be dorks, but at least we have a great deal in common.

I came home to find out that the day was not as smooth for Jason and the kids. I won't go into details, but I ended up feeling guilty for leaving and that I should probably make outings few and far between. I wish the day had gone better for them.

I'm getting tired now and I'm not sure why. I'm just in one of those Blah moods where you're not quite sure if you want to sleep, cry, scream, or go out. I guess I'm opting for the hanging in bed watching t.v. till I fall asleep.

Maybe tomorrow Jason and I will get some Christmas shopping in. Who knows? Probably won't happen, but I'd prefer to get it done sooner then later.

It's only the day after...

It's only the day after Thanksgiving and the ghost of Christmas present has already come and thrown up on my house. Just kidding, but we did put a good majority of the decorations up already.

We have an 8-foot Santa in our front yard, some garland and light-up Christmas trees. I have a light-up Christmas tree on the back porch and the tree with ornaments set-up in the family room. Oh and the kids each have a small tree in their rooms.

I'm exhausted now. Thanksgiving is cleaned up and Christmas is hung up. What more could anyone ask for?

An Olide but a Goodie

I found a old post of mine from almost 2 years ago. Can you believe that I've been doing this for almost 2 years? CRAZY!! Anyway, I thought with the holidays approaching, this was a keeper.

I have rolls people. When I smile, rolls. When I sit, rolls. When I stand, well hell my butt looks like two nice big country biscuits. Now don't get me wrong, I like rolls. Cinnamon rolls, wheat rolls, hard rolls, herb rolls, etc. By no means do I discriminate against the roll population, but really I don't need them on my body. You know the commercial where the people are walking with donuts around their mid-drifts? That's what I feel like. I'm a big, squishy roll. Thank goodness my husband doesn't discriminate against the bread community either or I'd be up a creek without a paddle.

Illness

Well, Moira's sick. No clue what's wrong or causing it, but sick none the less. She came home yesterday complaining about not feeling well and was asleep on the couch by the time we got home from work. When she woke up, I got out of her that it was her stomach bothering her and not her throat. That was actually great news. Later in the evening I got 1 tsp of Pepto down her and she's been asleep ever since. She does have a low grade fever and we'll just have to see how the day goes. I set her up in my room so hopefully she'll have a chance to sleep most of it off and she can watch some cartoons if she wants. My only hope is that this is a fast moving bug.

Nick had a birthday party for a friend last night at a place called Video Champ. He's now infatuated and has requested that his birthday party be there. The entire place is filled with all assortments of video games, including pinball. The way the parties work is you pay by the hour, not the game, and for $12.50 a kid dinner is included also. Well, it's $12.50 for 2 hours of play and $15.00 for 3 hours (2 hours seemed to be enough). The meal options are pretty good too. You can choose from a hot dog & fries, pizza, or nachos. I'm thinking this might be a possibility, people.

I guess that's all for my world now. I'm off to work and will be awaiting a call if Moira doesn't start to feel better or it goes to her throat. I'm only worried because one of her friends had strep. BUT, she wasn't around her until the antibiotics were started, but my mother-in-law does babysit the girl's brother. Even with the babysitting, I can't think of how she would have got it but I just want to get her in to the doctor if it does go from a stomach-ache into a sore throat.

Happy Birthday to my Baby, Baby

Happy 3rd Birthday to Aiden!!! YEA!!!

Aiden had a very nice birthday today. He got a "Cars" tricycle and a "Spiderman" scooter. He was thrilled. The bike came with a helmet and the movie "Curious George" from me, Jason, Nick, and Moira. Grandma & Grandpa W got him the scooter, a snow suit, a Veggie Tale movie w/ CD, the Veggie Tale Christmas CD, and a "Cars" coloring pad.

I got a present today, too. My Daddy gave me a copy of his Johnny Cash CD. I came in to listen to it the minute I finished mulching the leaves. Nick and I worked hard on the yard today. He raked and I mowed. Then, he took over mowing. He did a really good job and barely got bounced away. The boy's so skinny the mower just shakes him like a leaf.

We had fun. Now, it's time for a shower and a nap.

I wanted to post something exciting from You Tube, but I just don't have the time to search. Nick is screaming, literally, for my attention. I did all my Thanksgiving shopping today and now I'm stressed beyond a max because the stores were so crazy. I know I had to go to the laundry mat, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. So, now I have to do that tomorrow on Aiden's birthday. Oh well, hopefully tomorrow is a happier day.

WE DID IT 2

Thursday, November 16, 2006

WE DID IT!!!

I am SOOOO proud of my Daisy troop.

This evening, as a team, we made somewhere around 150-200 children's treat bags for a local parish. These bags will be donated to the parish for use in the Thanksgiving Dinner baskets given to those in need. I was shocked, the girls were having fun and didn't once ask to keep the items for themselves. They knew who we were helping (why we were doing it) and when we ran out of bags, they went back through and double stuffed everything. Thanks to all who donated to our service project. The bags included...

Juice boxes
Chips
Cookies
Fruit Snacks
Jello cups, fruit cups, pudding cups
Toys (pencils, stampers, bracelets, cars, sticker books, etc.)
Candy
Crackers
Snack cakes

It was crazy and so much fun. The girls loved doing this in order to help someone else and that was the best part! I hope the recipients of the bags enjoy them.

Fergalicious

So, I quickly IM'd my sister today just to say that I think something is wrong. I must be ill. I admitted that my current favorite song is "Fergalicious."

Her response was that it had a catchy tune that you just couldn't help but bop along too. (I claim creative editing on that. I don't think the word bop was used, maybe sing). Then she expressed how that was a random IM.

I just stated that with as busy has I've been, the headaches I've been fighting, I'm currently surviving on randomness. Random thoughts and actions have been at an all time high lately.

I Spoke Too Soon...

Well, I guess I spoke too soon about getting new comments. Either that or my last several posts have sucked. I prefer to think that people are just too busy to leave me a message, instead of the concept that I suck.

Anyway, Nick is on a new medication now. He just started taking Strattera (anti-anxiety) with his daily dose of Focalin (ADD medication). So far we haven't had any problems, but we're on a low dose this week and it gets increased next week. I've already contacted his teachers to keep me posted on any good or bad changes they may see. We were hoping that by adding this medication, his grades would once again improve and he wouldn't be so damn nervous about trying things.

He gets test anxiety pretty severely and that's been evident this year. He also gets frustrated very easily. I'm not talking a few tries into an activity, no he gets frustrated upon the first try. Then, I have to listen to awful things come out of his mouth like "I'm not good enough," "I will never be successful," etc. He is really hard on himself and the shitty part about it is he's very intelligent but would rather just buy into the lazy, not good enough attitude. Drives me crazy!!

If you know of anyone or you have had any experience with this, please let me know. I'm always open to suggestions, story swapping, and the everything else that comes with child rearing. Sometimes just gaining a little perspective listening to others helps.

Dreams

Have you ever had a really messed up dream? Tell me yours and I'll tell you mine.

Last night was a night filled with weird dreams. During the first one I was at my office, but it looked like a completely different space than my actual office, but somehow I knew I was at work. Anyway, I was responsible for the interior decoration of the office. I kept choosing these modern designs and bright colors. I find this strange because my entire house is tradition items with my preferences toward earth colors. I just couldn't figure out why I was decorating my office suite.

In my second dream, there was a man who was sick. At the beginning of the dream I couldn't identify him, but as I became the care giver I recognized him as Jason (or at least he turned into my husband). This entire time though, we are at work. I can see individuals that we work with walking around, but I'm taking care of him as if we were at home. Here's an added note, the office breakroom looked exactly like my mother's kitchen.

Build on that people, I've got something involving home, work, and family. Now go...

Busy Day

I am so sore from moving furniture. I pulled something in my back, luckily though I didn't mess up my herniated disc any more.

Today I need to make cupcakes because we're celebrating...

My Dad's 63rd birthday.
My Nephew's 7th birthday.
My Niece's 4th birthday
and my Son's 3rd birthday.

You know that cupcakes will make the activities worthwhile.

I wish I had more interesting topics to post about right now, but really I don't. I guess that could be a good thing or a bad thing. For today, it's going to have to be a good thing.

Dead Tired

So sorry that I didn't write earlier today. I'm dead tired. I cleaned all day and we moved furniture around in preparation for Thanksgiving and now I just want to go to bed. I can't go to bed though because there are too many children in my bed. They were dead tired too. What fun, what fun!

The "could have been"

I read a post on someone's blog earlier this week that got me thinking. She posted about the "could have been(s)" and I apologize to her because for the life of me I cannot remember the name of her site to give her the deserved credit. Anyway, I believe everyone has a "could have been". I know I have mine.

My "could have been" was a boy I dated my freshman year of high school. We've remained good friends ever since and I really believe he may have been my first love. Puppy love yes, but love none the less. We weren't a very good couple. I think the maturity levels played a large role, but we were really great at being friends.

In the years that have past, we all know the decisions I've made and the path I'm on. He hasn't had a very easy go of things and got in a bit of trouble, but I always knew his personality well enough to know that he could always clean up his act. He's always been a very dedicated worker and pretty laid back.

I sometimes sit back and wonder... "what would life have been like?" Would I still be happily married? Would I still have wonderful children? Would I have finished college? Where would I have ended up? What would I be?

I know the answers to these questions are irrelevant, but isn't that why we ask? Isn't that why people wonder if the grass is really greener on the other side? We're a society of curiosity. We always want what we can't have and we're always willing to try something once.

Do you have a "could have been"? Tell me your stories. It could be anything from a past boy/girlfriend, a job you didn't take, an opportunity you didn't have time for, etc. I want to hear your curiosities. Sometimes it's fun, but never allow it to be depressing. Just remember, you're always on the path that you're suppose to be at that time in your life.

Day Two of...

Day two of migraine madness and upper body achiness. This sucks. If I'm going to get sick, let's just get it over with. If I'm not going to get sick, then cut this crap out. And yet, I have still completed all my duties such as...

dinner cooking
cleaning up
homework doing
breakfast making
lunch packing
work getting readying
work going

Yes I realize I made a word or words up, but damn people I have a headache!

Did I tell you yet that I love the randomizer?

I know that I've posted about the NaBloPoMo Randomizer already, but I am totally in love with the thing. I already mentioned how it's introduced me to a bunch new and great blogs, but I didn't realize what it would do for my own blog. I've actually received comments from people outside of my family. How rockin' is that? I knew my family were loyal readers and I love reading their comments (especially my mother's b/c she can be such a smart ass), but to get non-relative comments....

AWESOME!!

It's a Giddy Day

I'm not sure which of the following items makes me more giddy...

1) The Democrats have taken the House
2) Claire McCaskill beat out Jim Talent
3) MO backed Stem Cell Research
4) Rumsfeld resigned
5) We will now have our first female Speaker of the House

or

6) Britney Spears has finally kicked K-Fed to the curb

I am going to have to do a little research though on our new Secretary of Defense. Although, I'm pretty sure that during Bush's press conference he could have just referred to the man as the past Director of the CIA and left out the fact that he's the President of Texas A&M. I know I have some Texas A&M alumni readers, so I don't want to offend them. I just got a bit of a giggle that a university (insert any university of your choosing) president was now going to be our Secretary of Defense. I guess the all qualified military officials are too busy fighting a war.

A well balanced boy, turns into a well rounded man

Last night I taught my baby to cross-stitch. I was very proud. I just figure he's now 5/8 baseball, 2/8 football, and 1/8 Mama's boy. As I said above, a well balanced boy will turn into a well rounded man.

A Call for Help

So I have a call for help out there...

Nick struggles with spelling something fierce. Each week he is given fifteen words to learn. By test day on Friday he can orally spell each word properly, but he always fails the written test. I just don't understand how someone can correctly spell words out loud but then we end up with e's where a's should be when it comes to writing.

Any suggestions?

Totally Loving This

So, you all know that I'm participating in NaBloPoMo. Well another individual, Lane, created a totally awesome randomizer to use to view other people's posts. It's addictive and that's cool with me. You know I have an addicitive personality, some just say I'm OCD though.

I Should Not Do This

I should know better than to mow my lawn after the leaves start to fall. My eyes are itchy and I just keep sneezing. It's one of those sneezing fits where you don't even breathe in between, you just constantly sneeze. How attractive am I?

Okay, I Admit It

I have a complete phobia of public restrooms. I just can't "go" when I'm in them. This morning was a bad case of the stops.

I decided to get a Starbucks coffee this morning as a little treat (I do that on occasion). Well if you're ever backed up, just go drink a cup of Starbucks coffee. I swear it must contain a laxative. Anyway, I'm at work which means I have to use the community bathroom for the floor. I enter and there is another woman already there, but she's done and washing her hands. I think cool, I'll be alone in a minute. NO, I WAS WRONG. Someone else had to enter and they decided to have a conversation with lady #1 while attending to their business. That was it. My insides said "Nope we're done. You might as well just leave" and so I did. I just couldn't pee much less anything else because dude it's a public restroom.

Yes, feel free to point fingers and mock me. Jason does it all the time, because I guess men just don't give a crap and they can crap anywhere. (heehee that just made me giggle) I also only have the maturity of someone in high school (did he just say penis? heehee).

NaBloPoMo

So, National Blog Posting Month starts today. I am a participant this year and if you will notice the Yoda button on the left side of the page you can press it and see all the other participants. What NaBloPoMo challenges bloggers to do is to post at least one entry each day during the month of November. Many people, myself included, fall into the trap of posting a lot and then letting a few days, weeks, pass before posting again. So in an attempt to post each day, what better way to start then with pictures from last night. Aren't they just adorable?
